Mansfield Timberview Clinches The MISD Spring Creek Classic Tournament Title! Senior CJ Smith Earns


The Mansfield ISD Athletic Department hosted its Annual Spring Creek Classic on Thursday Nov 29- Saturday Dec 1. This highly regarded event featured 32 high school boys teams with tournament games being played at 4 Mansfield ISD sites, Mansfield HS, Legacy HS, Lakeridge HS, and Timberview HS. Event featured some of the state's top teams including Denton Guyer, Mansfield Timberview, North Crowley, Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins, Shadow Creek, Duncanville, Sulphur Springs, and Waco Midway. Participating teams included: Amarillo, Arlington Martin, Bryan Rudder, College Park, Dallas Madison, Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins, Dallas WT White, Denton Guyer, Fort Worth Dunbar, Duncanville, El Paso Burges, Fort Bend Elkins, Frisco Liberty, Killeen Ellison, Killeen Shoemaker, Shreveport (LA) Southwood, Mansfield, Mansfield Lakeridge, Mansfield Legacy, Mansfield Summit, Mansfield Timberview, Mansfield Timberview JV, Midlothian ,North Crowley, Round Rock, Round Rock Stony Point, Shadow Creek, Sherman, South Grand Prairie, Sulphur Springs, Temple, Waco Midway.

This year's tournament field was loaded with some of the top prospects in the state. Here's a look at the players who made some big impressions at this year's Spring Creek Classic

The senior guard averaged 17ppg during Tourney Play including a 27pt 4reb 3stl performance in the semifinal victory over top ranked Denton Guyer. Showcased his elite quickness and playmaking ability. Got wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted he wanted in each game he played at the SCIT. At 5'8 he is pound for pound one of the toughest guards in the state.

Tristen Newton

EP Burgess

The Senior Guard Averaged 38ppg during Tourney Play including 50pts vs Timberview and 39pts vs Arlington Martin. Newton currently holds offers from Evansville, Jackson St and should see his stock rise after this weekend.

Keaston Willis

Sulphur Springs

Averaged 23ppg 5apg 6 rpg during Tourney Play including a 30pts 6ast 8reb performance vs Mansfield Lakeridge; 26pts 6reb 8ast vs Killeen Ellison; 23pts 4rebs 5ast vs FB Elkins. An unsigned senior who made a really good impression each time he stepped on the floor. Xavier Cork

Sulphur Springs

The Senior Forward averaged 16ppg 8rpg 2bpg during Tourney Play for the Wildcats. Had an impressive 22pt 11reb 4blk performance in the opening round vs Mansfield Lakeridge and showcased good athleticism as well dominant shot blocking and rebounding ability.

Donovan Williams

FB Elkins

The University of Texas signee averaged 26ppg during Tourney Play including a game-high 35pts vs Denton Guyer & 25pts vs Midlothian. Had several highlight dunks in the opening round vs Mansfield Lakeridge that were so impressive they drew cheers from the Lakeridge fans. A top 20 player in the State and top 2 in the Greater Houston Area. Williams, aka "Stretch", is a long, rangy athlete with a smooth shooting stroke. A high level defender that can guard the 1-4 positions. Promising prospect whose skill sets will translate very well at the next level.

Akin Newton

Shadow Creek

The 6'2 senior guard impressed at the SCIT averaging16ppg during Tourney Play including a team high 16pts in Shadow Creek's big win over Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins. Played with great pace and always under control. Shotmaker that scored from all 3 levels. One of the top guards in the Greater Houston Area and an All-Tournament performer

JaKevan Leftridge

Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins

The 6'6 senior forward averaged 17ppg during Tourney Play and made big play after big play for the Eagles. One of the state's top unsigned seniors, Leftridge will play a key role in the Eagles' 4A state Title hopes this season.

Jalen Wilson

Denton Guyer

The Michigan signee Averaged 23ppg 12rpg 3apg during Tourney Play including a 27pt 14r 6ast performance vs Mansfield Timberview in the semifinal round and 27pts 9rebs vs FB Elkins. The 5-star forward showcased elite scoring and rebounding ability. One of the more versatile players in the field, Wilson also impressed with his ability to play on the perimeter on both sides of the ball. Versatile player with high a skill set

DeVion Harmon

Denton Guyer

The Oklahoma signee and 2x Olympic Gold Medalist continues to play at a high level for Denton Guyer. Harmon averaged 26ppg 6apg during Tourney Play including a game-high 36pts in a win over FB Elkins and 26pts vs Mansfield Timberview. Harmon scored the ball at a high level and did a good job of making plays for his teammates. All-Tournament Performer Shamir Bogues

Killeen Ellison

The sophmore guard averaged over 19ppg during Tourney Play including 25pts vs Sulphur Springs. Confident young guard who stays in attack mode. A top 50 Tx 2021, Bogues has interest from several North Texas and Sam Houston State. Big brother Shannon plays at Stephen F. Austin.

Anthony Scott

Waco Midway

The 5'7 junior guard averaged 18ppg,4apg ncluding a season-high 22pts vs Mansfield Timberview. Scott showcased elite quickness and playmaking ability and proved to be one of the toughest competitors in the event. Small guard with BIG game and alot of heart.

Isaiah Crawford

North Crowley

The 6'6 senior forward had a huge weekend for the Panthers. Averaged 21ppg 8rpg 3apg 2bpg during Tourney Play including 26pts 9reb vs College Park; 19pts 10reb 6ast vs Frisco Liberty and 28pts 9rebs 3ast 2stls vs Mansfield. Crawford continues to prove he is one of the top unsigned seniors in the state and a DFW POY candidate Tahlik Chavez

Mansfield Lakeridge

The Senior Guard Averaged 24ppg during Tourney Play including a game-high 28pts in the Consolation Championship vs Arlington Martin. The UC-Riverside de-commit continues to emerge as one of the top available seniors in DFW

Tristan Starks

Mansfield Timberview

Big guard that scored the ball at a high level for the Wolves. Averaged 13ppg during Tourney Play. Scored a game-high 20pts in the Championship Game vs North Crowley. All-Tournament Performer and a key piece to the Timberview title hopes this season.

Trazarien White

Mansfield Timberview

The Air Force signee/ top 50 Tx 2019 prospect and the player who impacts the Timberwolves success.

A high level performer who does it all for his team. An All-Tournament performer who has proven to be one of the most versatile athletes in the state.

Rodrigo Soares

Mansfield Timberview

"Big shot Rod" was key to the Wolves Tournament Championship Run. Made several clutch plays down the stretch of several games and his perimeter shooting was a gamechanger in the dramatic comeback victory

vs Denton Guyer in the semifinal round. Showcased his ability to stretch the floor and hit the boards.

The Wolves will be relying on continued production from Soares as they chase their 2nd state championship in the past 3 years.

Marquiss Childs

Mansfield Timberview

The X-factor on a good Timberview squad. Defended and competed at a high level all weekend. Consistently played with good energy and effort. 6'2 guard brings toughness and versatility to a Wolves team with 5A State Title aspirations

Isaiah Wyatt

North Crowley

The 6'3 senior guard played a key role in North Crowley's tournament run. Big guard with long arms that he uses well to cause havoc on defense. Showcased some nice midrange scoring ability. All-Tournament Performer Ta'Veon Sevaatasi

Killeen Shoemaker

Averaged 17ppg during Tourney Play for the Grey Wolves including a game-high 20pts vs Denton Guyer in the 3rd Place Game. Aggressive scorer that competes hard. All-Tournament Performer

Trey Tennison

Mansfield Legacy

The Central Conneticut State signee averaged 17ppg and shot over 50% from the field during Tournament Play including a 22pt performance vs Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins. One of the top players in the DFW area.

Terrell Williams Jr

Mansfield High Averaged 18ppg 8rpg during Tourney Play including a 16pt 9reb performance vs North Crowley and a

20pt (game-high), 7reb, 3ast performance in the Tigers 2nd Rd upset victory over Duncanville.

Shot 70% 2ptFG; 33% 3ptFG; 90%FT; One of the top unsigned seniors in DFW.
